How many times do we have to say it, people, please do not let your cats outside without careful supervision.

It's just simply not worth it. Wouldn't it be so much fun to train them on a harness and take them out on walks, rather than let them roam and wonder what may pawssibly happen to them? The world can be a big, scary place, especially for indoor cats with little to no survival skills. We're not sure about your cats, but ours wouldn't survive a second on their own in the wild. They are little daddy's boys, and that's just purrfect with us.

Well, not everyone takes good advice, like the Karen neighbor in the story below. She lets her cat wander around unsupervised, and is starting to blame her neighbor's sweet cat for her cat's shenanigans, even demanding that the pawrent pay for her vet bills for what happened to her cat outside. This would all be solved if she was a responsible cat owner in the furst place!

    I have an older cat Marin who, before coming to me, had an accident. Now, both of her back paws are practically useless. She can't climb, has trouble jumping, and so on. That said, I let Marin out into the garden for three (always the same) hours

    every day. She basks in the sun, hunts for bugs, and rolls on the ground and then back inside. Marin is not aggressive... unless another cat or dog appears in garden. But this has never been a problem before.

    Two weeks later, Theo showed up again, and this time I only found out when Marin started meowing loudly. I managed to catch him again, examined him, and found one scratch, but it didn't look serious. So I took Theo to Lisa again.

  • Marin is not to blame for any of this, if you ask us. Wouldn't you also defend yourself if someone came barging into your home? Marin is simply protecting her and her hooman's territory; it's not her fault the other cat doesn't understand that. At least her pawrent is supervising her while she's outside.

I told her that yes, I can pay for the vet, but I would like to see that Theo actually had all those wounds, because I literally didn't see any of them when I dropped him off, and yet she claimed it happened right after that incident.

  • This is just terrible. Some people will go so far to make sure that they're not purrceived as the “bad guy”, but what these people don't understand is that lies will always come back to bite you eventually. It may not be immediately, but we live in a world where anyone who looks close enough can figure something out.

    This time, instead of talking, I sent Lisa a message telling her to stop lying and that if she wanted the money, she needed to show some proof. I also told her that if the situation continued, I would eventually report it to the police.

    What's bothering me is that my father, who knows about the whole situation, is trying to blame me for it all, saying I should just pay instead of making a fuss. On the one hand, he's important to me, and I wouldn't expect such reaction from him, but on the other, he doesn't like cats and he said several times that I should get rid of Marin.

    Bumblebee-Honey-Tea 23h ago . Don't pay the vet bill just because she's bu ying you. Her cat is literally coming into your yard and haring your handicapped cat! If you're willing to pay a vet bill, buy a security camera instead and catch her cat in the act.

    Don't pay for the vet bill, and next time you catch Theo in your yard, drop him off at an animal shelter and let her find him on her own. You've given this woman an ocean of unnecessary leniency and all she's doing is threatening you with it.

    Titariia 22h ago . If Lisa doesn't want Theo to get hurt she shouldn't let him out. Chances are he got al Icked by a dog or something and now she blames you. Ask your neighbors how your disabled cat can a Ick a young and healthy cat to this extend and publicly ask her and anyone of definite proof that your cat is aggressiv.

It can be with other cats, dogs, cars etc. If she is so worried, she should have never let her cat outside in the first place. Personally, I think all cats should be indoor cats as they harm the wildlife so much. But here in the UK, most cats roam wherever they want.

    I'd also knock on the other neighbors' doors and explain de situation (something like "Hi, I'm so sorry to bother you, do you have some time? I'm very worried about this situation with Lisa. [Here's what happened]. I really don't want any trouble. Have you ever had any problems with Marin before?"
